t ham icelandic three wolf hammersThor's Hammer found on Iceland, ca 900-1000. It is assumed this a combination cross & hammer unique to Iceland as Christianity gained favor. The original of this hammer was found near Vaalse, Falster Denmark and is now in the National Museum of Iceland. The cross design is similar to ones produced by Sami people in northern Norway. Crosses of similar design were found near a small group of Sami settlements in northern Iceland.

In the Nibelungenlied Wayland made a sword for the hero Sigfried so he could kill a dragon and take its hoard of gold. Wayland then planned to then kill Sigried but the plan failed - read the story to find out why.

thor amulet Thor is one of the 'old' gods in that he historically predates Odin and the other warrior gods. Originally responsible for agricultural fertility, thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, healing, and protection of mankind. He was a bit rough and earthy but was elevated to major god status by the Viking Age. His Hammer Mjölnir would return to his hand whenever he called it and was the bane of many a giant.
