Tortoise Brooches, Early Vendel Period – Silver

Vendel Period Oval Brooch ~7^th C –The earliest oval brooches were little more than oval domes. This brooch represents the next step in brooch development where animals were represented by scribed lines on a 2-dementional surface. The original is in the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm.
