Description
I created this Radiate Head brooch based on photos from Gotland. Brooches were worn singly or in pairs on higher neck line peplos dresses. Radiate Head brooches were derived from Roman arch backed fibulae that appeared in Francia (Currently France and western Germany) during the outward migration period 450 – 550 CE after the fall of Rome. In France, England and western Germany the radiating points were often tear-drop shaped. This is a later version where the radiating points are possibly stylized Raven heads.
