Whetstone is made from volcanic schist, the same material used to make Viking Age whetstones. Stones natural material, so vary somewhat in grit starting at 400 to 600 grit up to 2000 grit. These produce an extremely sharp edge and are used to keep a tool that way. Re-enactor ready. Period correct for nearly 2000 years

Description

Women carried a smaller knife and small whetstone attached to their Chatelaine or in a ‘Small Things’ pouch. A small, always handy blade was used to harvest or trim herbs, cut flowers or lift a sliver out of a finger.

Whetstone is made from volcanic schist, the same material used to make Viking Age whetstones. Stones natural material, so vary somewhat in grit starting at 400 to 600 grit up to 2000 grit.
