Description
Copy of a twist type key in the Swedish National Museum. The head of household carried the key to the family valuables. A key was given to the bride during her wedding as a symbol of trust and responsibility. This key was inserted in the lock and twisted. Some keys were much more highly decorated but they were also rare. This style of key has three bumps in a pattern on the opposite side of the business end of the key. Part of the code involved a pin fitting into the shaped hole plus matching the bumps to release the lock.
